Learning and Development
At Orford Preschool everyone is valued for who they are and what they bring. We strive to ensure children have child initiated experiences where their interests are skilfully supported and knowledge is deepened by practitioners. To take this further we offer a provision that has some adult led, knowledge rich teaching and learning experiences in a variety of engaging environments spanning across the seven areas of learning within the EYFS (Early Years Foundations Stage) and beyond. Children then learn, link and transfer new skills, language and concepts to practice in their free play and exploration through our continuous provision.
As the preschool is part of Orford Primary we are very lucky to have access to the wonderful forest school, purpose built teaching kitchen, kitchen garden, chickens, school hall and school musical instruments which allows for additional provision and some fantastic learning and play experiences.
We also work very closely with the Early Years staff in the reception class so when your child is ready to move up into the school the transition is tailored to meet needs and is carried out over several well planned visits.
Please see our daily timetable and our medium term plans below to see all the great activities and fun we will be having. Our daily timetable gives an overview of the activities we currently do each day and our planning overview shows the current terms themes.
Parent information Packs
When your child joins us you'll receive a very detailed pack of information welcoming you and your child to our preschool. We believe the more knowledge you have as a parent about your child’s experiences of learning, what they need for preschool and how we can work together, the more successful and happy your child will become as a learner. Please keep it and refer back to the information as and when needed.
