Orford CEVA Primary School

Orford

CEVA Primary School

Our Values

Our Preschool values are intrinsically linked to our culture, ethos and with the school. They are to be and feel:

Special – Every child deserves, and should feel special. We celebrate diversity, children’s interests, events, efforts and successes. We teach children to notice when they and others are being special and that they are special and unique.

Safe – All children have a right to be kept safe and away from harm. We have rigorous safeguarding, first aid, health and safety policies and procedures in place.  Thorough risk assessments, equipment checks and parent/carer collection procedures we ensure every effort is made to keep children safe while in our care. We teach children to be safe and take calculated risks, children also learn what to do if they don’t feel safe.

Creative – Children will have many opportunities to learn, explore and experiment in different creative contexts, such as, art, design, cooking, dance, drama, music, singing, technology, construction etc.

Curious – within the world in which we live. Practitioners encourage and are excited when children ask questions, wonder, notice and talk about the fascinating world around them. We speak to the children about how they are connected to the world and the part they can play in looking after, nurturing and developing it.

Confident – Children are encouraged to explore, test, try and take risks in their play so they are happy to give new experiences a go as they learn and develop.

Ambitious – to focus, concentrate and strive to achieve their goals.

Resilient- learning through trial and error, learning that if things don’t go to plan there is always the opportunity to try again, to take a different route or make a different choice

Excepting – of others likes and dislikes. Children will begin to understand that people have different perspectives, views, interests, traditions, customs and beliefs. We encourage children to be excepting and respectful of these views, whilst acknowledging that their own views are important too.

Kind and Caring– Children learn what it means and how it feels to be kind and caring to others and themselves through stories, song, role play, practitioner encouragement and explanation of emotion.
