Changes in school after half term:
We have been advised in schools to ensure all adults in communal areas wear masks again. So we would request that all parents/ carers coming through the gates onto the playground or round to class 1 also wear a mask (unless you have a medical reason not to). We have also sadly been told that any non-essential visitors are to be asked not to come into school. This means there may well be changes to future planned events, if the period of visitors being restricted goes on for too long. We will keep you informed with this as soon as we can. The first event to be affected will be parents’ evenings, they are likely to be virtual with teachers next half term. Whatever happens, we will of course keep as many planned events happening in some form next half-term (albeit these may be zoomed or filmed).
We are so proud of our year 3 and 4 pupils who went to Bawdsey Manor for the PGL trip, they showed so many of the qualities we are aiming to engender in the pupils while they are at school: resilience, courageousness, caring, and they definitely were equal to all the other schools there. Although I think ours were a lot better behaved! They were a credit to Orford and Bawdsey schools and their families.
Macmillan coffee morning and open day
Thank you for all the donations of cake and for coming to support the coffee morning and open day, we collected just over £270 for the Macmillan charity, and we had so many positive comments about the school left for us, that it was overwhelming. Class 3 who did the service and tours were amazing, as was sharing all the good learning happening in Class 1 and 2. It made all the staff and pupils feel so proud to be part of Orford school.
Have a happy and healthy half-term everyone, Mrs Butler.
