In Class 1 this week, we were using museum artefacts to find out about our school in the past. We used photographs, shields certificates and the old school log books dating back to 1930. The children found it fascinating to discover how the school coped with being snowed in, thunder storms, local flooding and air raids in wartime. In fact they were so fascinated, that at play time everyone played air raids in the playground. Fortunately all survived! The children were even more fascinated yet to find photos of Mrs Scarce and Mrs Robinson on sports day (not in 1930) and the school log entry verifying the arrival of a new teacher called Miss Briley!
We are still very excited about Maths learning, our mastery approach and the positive impact it is having on our pupil's understanding. Please don't forget the Maths Mastery workshop on Monday 22nd May from 6 - 7pm for parents. Chris Gallagher a Maths mastery expert is coming to share with you activities and ideas you should find eye opening and thought provoking. It is a really valuable opportunity for you to find out how your child is learning Maths. Then on Wednesday remember you are welcome to come and join in with your child's maths learning on Maths Day. Further information is in the news section of the website. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
