Orford CEVA Primary School

Orford

CEVA Primary School

Not quite a Phoenix, but......

We are very pleased to tell you that teaching kitchen lessons will resume this week

Our school was devastated when, the Monday before Christmas, we experienced a fire in the teaching kitchen. Fortunately, the combination of the fire detection system, the well practised fire evacuation procedure and the prompt arrival of our local fire engine meant that the damage was limited and, more importantly, no member of the school community was ever at risk. We lost some equipment through heat or smoke damage and the food was unusable.

Roll on a few weeks, and our own cleaners and a specialist cleaning firm have worked their magic. While not quite gleaming white again as the smoke has stained the paintwork, the kitchen is now clean and sterile for cooking lessons to resume. The  replacement cooking ingredients have arrived and every piece of remaining equipment washed and sterilised. Quotes are being sought for remaining remedial works to be completed which we  hope will take place during the Easter holidays.

May we take this opportunity to thank all of you who have offered your help during this time.
