Looking after our children's wellbeing is always at the forefront of what we want to achieve. In our school, we do this in a number of ways: through building relationships with children and their families, providing whole class, small group and individual support and doing all that we can to create an inspiring environment.
We hope that you will find some of the resources below useful:
Our new Nurture Group is designed to offer opportunities to promote and support children's social and emotional development.
The nurture group environment is welcoming and safe. Staff support pupils to develop relationships, build self-esteem and grow children's understanding of emotions and how to express them, using EL:SA (Emotional Literacy) resources to support.
The carefully selected activities promote positive wellbeing, encourage children to think and talk about their feelings in a safe way, and (most importantly) are fun!.
We start all of our sessions with a welcome greeting and emotions check-in. This is followed by a warm-up activity, for example, chatting and sharing news or playing a game. The main activity usually then takes place. Our session is brought to an end with reflection and relaxation time before returning to class to continue with classroom activities.
Children who are experiencing a specific difficulty may, after speaking to parents and carers, be offered some 1to1 follow-up sessions to further support them.
