Orford CEVA Primary School

Orford

CEVA Primary School

Class 2 - Y3 & Y4

Class 2 is made up of children in Years 3 and 4.

This term we kick off with a mini-project researching, testing and preparing recipes to share at the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival where we will have the chance to represent the school and talk to people about the fantastic cooking we do in the Teaching Kitchen.

After that, we will be embarking on a topic learning all about The Age of Exploration which will cover a range of geography and history learning objectives, culminating in our very own museum exhibition.

Our Science area of learning will be sound - covering how it's made, how it travels and how we hear it.

In English we will be writing a recipe book before using William Grill's 'Shackleton's Journey' to inspire diary writing from the perspective of one of the crew of the Endeavour. We will also be reading and responding to poetry and having a go at writing our own.

Maths will focus on building on the foundations of place value in numbers up to 4 digits before moving on to addition and subtraction.

This term Forest School will alternate with cooking on a Monday and Xtra time PE will be on a Friday.

Banded reading scheme books will be changed on a Monday each week, library books can be changed as frequently as needed. Please try to aim for reading 4x per week and record these in your reading diary.
