Class 3 - Y5, Y6
Welcome to Class 3 – home for Years 5 and 6.
In Class 3, we continue to grow as independent learners, building confidence and curiosity as we prepare for the next stage of our learning journey.
Our history and geography topic this term is: The Time-Traveling Museum of Ancient Egypt.
We’ll explore the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt. From mighty pharaohs and sacred tombs to the importance of the River Nile. Pupils will create their own artefacts and timelines, ready to showcase at our museum open day.
Our science topic is: Inheritance and Evolution. We’ll investigate inherited traits by bringing in family photos and looking at features passed down through generations. We’ll also explore how animals adapt to their environments and visit Colchester Zoo to see evolution in action.
We are reading Secrets of a Sun King by Emma Carroll. Inspired by this exciting adventure, we’ll be writing time-slip stories using rich figurative language to bring the world of Ancient Egypt to life. In maths, we’re focusing on shape and angles, using arithmetic to solve problems and prepare for SATs.
Class 3 will also enjoy swimming lessons, sports day preparations, Scratch coding projects, and making Egyptian-style Wesekh collars to display in our class museum.
