Class 2 - Y3 & Y4 am / Y3,4,5,6 pm
Class 2 is made up of children in Years 3 and 4 in the morning, and we are joined by Years 5 and 6 in the afternoon.
This term Class 2 will be learning about World War 2 and the impact the war had on Britain and the world! We will begin with the autobiographical memoir “War Boy” by Michael Foreman. This will give us some insight into what it was like to be a child in Britain during the war. We will also study the key dates, people and events of the war.
In English we will begin by writing comparative pieces by using Michael Foreman’s War Boy. We will compare life now and during the war. We will also use this book in our reading workshops to develop our reading comprehension strategies. We will then be writing evacuee letters.
Our Maths this term begins with representing numbers in 1s, 10s, 100s, and 1000s. We will then continue with place value.
This term PE will be on a Friday. Our main topics are Outdoor Adventure Activities and Gymnastics. We also have Forest School sessions on a Wednesday.
Our first science unit is on light, shadows and reflection. Class 2 also have access to the teaching kitchen on Tuesdays on a rotating basis.
Banded reading scheme books will be changed on a Monday each week, library books can be changed as frequently as needed. Please try to aim for reading 4x per week and record these in your reading diary.
