Class 3 - Y5, Y6

Welcome to Class 3 – home for Years 5 and 6

Class 3 Summer 25/26

We have reached the summer term! This term promises to be both busy and fun in equal measure. The year 6 children have properly begun SATs preparations while the year 5s continue with their journey through Key Stage 2.

Our main topic this term is “Groovy Greeks” in which we will learn about the Ancient Greek period. To go along with this we have started to read and answer comprehension questions based on the novel “Who Let the Gods Out?”

Also in English, we will be writing third person narrative and discursive pieces. We have learned a bit about third person vocabulary in our newspaper sequences last term and we will build on these skills this term. In Maths, there are several topics to cover including fractions, decimals and percentages, algebra, shape and statistics.

We have our Year 6 SATs in the week of 11th May. Preparations for these are well underway as we seek where to find every mark possible. On top of all of this, we have our Class residential beginning on Monday 18th of May! The children are very excited about all of the activities we will be able to participate in. After the May half term the focus will switch to transition events and the end of year performance. We also have Sports Day in June.

I have no doubt that this term will fly by with how much there is going on!
